The recently held Inter Class English Elocution Contest at Tharlam School was not just a platform for students to showcase their speaking skills — it was a reflection of the school’s dedication to nurturing confidence, expression, and moral values in every learner.

According to Mrs. Sita Sharma, English teacher and one of the main organisers of the event, the contest was carefully planned to encourage students to appreciate the beauty of poetry and the power of meaningful words. “We wanted our students to feel the depth of expression that literature offers and learn to communicate with clarity and purpose,” she shared.

Preparation for the contest began weeks in advance, with students from Classes IX and X selecting poems from renowned poets that carried strong moral lessons. Teachers guided them through pronunciation, tone, and stage presentation. “Many students started shy but ended up speaking with remarkable confidence — that’s the true success of this event,” Mrs. Sharma added.

The event not only enhanced students’ public speaking abilities but also deepened their understanding of moral and cultural values. Organisers hope to continue such programs that combine language learning with life skills.

The Tharlam School English Department extends gratitude to all participants, teachers, and judges who made the event a memorable and enriching experience.
